We currently sell four great brands of Lump Charcoal! They
are:

1) The Good-One Lump Charcoal – Charcoal and More is a dealer for this very good brand of charcoal and here is an excerpt of that
Naked Whiz review

The Good-One lump charcoal

The charcoal was very easy to light, taking 2.5 sheets to start in our chimney starter test. There was no sparking or popping while it was burning in the chimney starter, and the smell was the typical American hardwood smoke smell.

This charcoal burned at 1030 degrees in our maximum temperature test, which ranks high compared to other charcoals. When the fire was coming up to temperature, it spread rapidly as you would expect in light of the ease in starting this charcoal. Again there was no sparking or popping while the charcoal was burning full blast. Also, there was very little sparking and popping when starting with a MAPP torch, but of course exercise care when using a torch to start lump charcoal. The charcoal burn time was high compared other charcoals and the ash produced was low. We have no trouble giving this charcoal our “Recommended” rating.

charcoal and here is an excerpt of that Naked Whiz review on

Notes from the review on the Naked Whiz

We specifically asked the owner if all his bags were this good, and he assured us they were. More evidence of our belief that chips and dust are more a result of the manufacturer’s screening than they are of handling after leaving the manufacturer. Frankly, we have never seen a better bag of charcoal. There were no rocks in the bag, and no funny stuff that doesn’t belong in a bag of charcoal.  Now on to lighting the charcoal. The charcoal took only 2.5 sheets of newspaper to start in our chimney starter test. This is very low compared to other charcoals. While it burned in the chimney starter, there was no sparking or popping. The smell of the smoke was a pretty strong smell of maple charcoal, reminiscent of Maple Leaf charcoal for those of you who have been lucky enough to get your hands on Maple Leaf.

So, having tied up all the loose ends, how does it all come together? Well, we have a charcoal that is 95% usable, has a fantastic size distribution, burns REALLY hot, is easy to light, burns a long time and produces relatively little ash. This one’s a no-brainer. We have discovered the Paul Potts of the charcoal world, and Real Montana Maple charcoal gets our Highly Recommended rating.

3) Wicked Good “Weekend Warrior Blend” Charcoal

This is a wonderful all-around charcoal……a proven choice by our customers for fast, hot grilling or for their long, slow cooking. It’s an excellent non-sparkingcharcoal for smoking and chefs love it for the easy lighting and long, even burn! It also imparts a very pleasant flavor, just enough to be noticeable, yet not enough to overpower your food.

4)  Ozark Oak Lump Charcoal

This is good quality lump, and a bargain to boot. It is comparable to BGE lump in quality, although it did not contain the few huge pieces that we usually find in a bag of BGE lump. It was nearly all useable size, with pieces averaging about 3″. Just a little dust in the bottom of the bag, along with a few chips. We did not find any unburned pieces of wood, and no funny stuff…, See the review of Ozark Oak Charcoal on The Naked Whiz
